Bucharest - restaurants & cafés
1. Caru' cu Bere - a traditional Romanian restaurant built in 1879; an impressive building and really good food, here is their website
2. Hanu' lui Manuc - another traditional Romanian restaurant, it was built in 1808; this is a link to their menu
3. Strabun - Not the most glamorous looking place, but really tasty food - both Romanian and international; this is their link
4. Beraria H - if you're going to Herastrau park, this is a 'must stop and eat or drink' place; great for bbq's, live music and great fun for an evening out; this is their menu
5. Old Kitchen - they specialise in Ardeal food (West Romanian food), great for soups, gulas and stew; menu
6. Luca Pastry - you will see Luca pastries everywhere - great for breakfast/ lunch; please try Romanian pastries before you leave, you'll regret it if you don't :)
Sibiu
Sibiu is a beautiful, medieval city in Transylvania, central Romania. You can do day trips from Bucharest to Sibiu (4h 30mins drive from Bucharest). However, if you have a few days, there's a lot to do and to see in Sibiu. A few options and ideas below:
1. See the Bridge of Lies - 1860 ('Podul Minciunilor') and read some of its history here
2. Walk around the main squares ('Piata Mare & Piata Mica') - 1366
3. Try the local Sibiu beer (SB Blonda) - you can find it at most of the restaurants around the Square
4. Go up the Council's Tower ('Turnul Sfatului) - 1324
5. Visit St Mary's Cathedral ('Catedrala Evanghelica Sfanta Maria') - 1520
6. Visit Biserica Iedutilor - 1733
7. Have a short walk on Strada Cetatii

Brasov
You can do a day trip from Bucharest to Brasov (4h drive), it is a beautiful city, with a rich history and a lot to do and to see. A few things to see if you visit Brasov:
1. The Council Square - it's been a market place since 1520; website
2. Visit the two towers of Brasov (Turnul Alb & Turnul Negru) - you'll climb 200 steps
3. Visit the Black Church ('Biserica Neagra') - 1476
4. Take the cable car (or drive) up to the top of the mountain (Poiana Brasov)

7. Walk down Europe's narrowest street ('Strada Sforii')
Busteni
Busteni is a great place for a day trip, 3h drive from Bucharest. It's great for adventure, mountain and nature lovers. Things to see:
